Updates: Once Or Twice A Month?

We offer Wordpress updates on either a monthly or twice-monthly basis, depending on the size, complexity, and importance of your website. Monthly updates suit most smaller, more static Wordpress sites, while twice-monthly updates are ideal for larger Wordpress websites, WooCommerce stores, or any site where security, performance, and uptime are critical.

More frequent updates reduce the risk of vulnerabilities, compatibility issues, and unexpected downtime, keeping your site fast, secure, and running smoothly at all times.

On-Demand Casual Support.

In addition to our maintenance packages, we offer flexible, on-demand support billed at a casual hourly rate of $150/h +gst. This allows you to engage us as needed for general design and development changes, content updates, new functionality, and ongoing improvements, without being locked into fixed scopes or retainers.

Clear Communication.

We believe a job is done well when there is open communication with the client, and to that end, we provide very clear and transparent time tracking. If we're working on a casual task for you, we will send through regular communication so that you know how the work is progressing.

Detailed Hours Breakdown.

Twice a month - once at mid-month and again at the end-of-month, we send through a detailed report that shows all of the time tracked during that period. These reports go in to greater detail, showing start and stop times, any non-billable time tracked, who worked on the tasks etc.

We find that our clients really appreciate this level of openness and transparency. If you've ever worked with a digital agency before and received what feels like a random invoice for 12 hours for "Website Updates" with no detail or explanation - you are going to love the way we work!

Transparent Pricing.

Our hourly rate is $150/h +gst (or $140/h +gst if on a maintenance plan). There's no requirement to commit to pre-paid hours or ongoing retainers you may not use each month - just straightforward, transparent support when you need it.

Combine Hosting & Maintenance

Our managed Wordpress hosting plans and Wordpress maintenance packages are intentionally kept separate, giving you the freedom to choose exactly what you need, at the level that suits your business.

More Flexibilty.

Not every business has the same requirements. Some clients need fast, reliable hosting with minimal ongoing maintenance, while others already have hosting in place and simply want expert Wordpress care. By keeping hosting and maintenance separate, we give you the flexibility to choose what works best for your setup.

Get More For Less.

This approach also works well for businesses managing multiple websites. Clients can host more than one website on a single Jimmyweb hosting plan if required, while maintenance is applied per website to ensure each site receives the appropriate level of attention, monitoring, and support.

You can opt for Wordpress hosting, a maintenance package, or combine both - without unnecessary extras, bundled hours or services you won't use. Either way, we have your back.

Commonly Asked Questions

Questions & Answers

We would love the opportunity to help you maintain your Wordpress website, but we understand that you may have some additional questions. This quick Q&A covers a lot of the commonly asked questions. However, if you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

What is a Wordpress Maintenance Plan?

A Wordpress Maintenance Plan is a regular service (monthly on our Essential Plan, twice a month on our Premium Plan) that keeps your website secure, stable, and running properly. It covers the ongoing technical work required to maintain a Wordpress site such as updates, security monitoring, backups, and performance checks, so problems are prevented before they affect your business.

How is a Maintenance Plan different from web hosting?

Web hosting simply keeps your website online by providing a server. It does not manage, secure or optimize Wordpress itself. A Maintenance Plan looks after the website inside the server keeping Wordpress, plugins, and themes updated, monitoring security, fixing issues, and ensuring everything continues to work as expected.

Hosting is like the ground a building sits on; maintenance keeps the building from falling apart.

Why don’t you bundle Wordpress Maintenance and Hosting into one plan?

We intentionally keep hosting and Wordpress maintenance as separate services so you can choose exactly what your business needs.

Not every website has the same requirements. Some clients need fast, reliable hosting but very little ongoing Wordpress support. Others already have hosting in place and simply want expert maintenance and support. By keeping the plans separate, you’re not forced into a bundled package that includes services you don’t need.

This approach also works especially well for businesses with multiple websites, where one hosting plan can support several sites, each with its own level of maintenance. The result is more flexibility, clearer pricing, and better value - without unnecessary extras.

Why do Wordpress websites need regular maintenance?

Wordpress is a modular, dependency-driven application made up of core files, themes, plugins, server configurations, and third-party integrations. Each layer is updated independently and frequently to address security vulnerabilities, bug fixes, performance improvements, and compatibility with newer PHP versions, browsers, and APIs.

Without regular maintenance, unpatched vulnerabilities accumulate, increasing exposure to common attack vectors such as outdated plugins, privilege escalation, SQL injection, and malware injection. In addition, version drift between Wordpress core, plugins, and the underlying hosting environment can lead to fatal errors, broken functionality, and degraded performance.

Ongoing maintenance ensures controlled updates, compatibility testing, rollback capability, database optimisation, and continuous monitoring - reducing operational risk, minimising downtime, and maintaining long-term site stability, security, and performance.

What happens if I don’t have a Maintenance Plan?

Websites that are left unattended are far more likely to experience downtime, security breaches, broken features, and performance issues. These problems can damage customer trust, search rankings, and revenue. A Maintenance Plan removes the risk of a "set and forget" website and ensures issues are handled proactively, rather than reactively when something breaks.

Is Wordpress hard to maintain?

Wordpress itself isn’t inherently difficult to maintain—but maintaining it properly and consistently is where it becomes challenging.

A basic site with minimal plugins can be simple to manage at first. However, as a website grows, it becomes a complex system of plugins, themes, custom code, third-party integrations, and server dependencies. Each component updates on its own schedule and can introduce compatibility, security, or performance issues if not managed carefully.

The real difficulty isn’t the individual tasks - it’s the ongoing responsibility. Safe updates, security monitoring, backup verification, performance optimisation, and troubleshooting all require time, technical knowledge, and regular attention. When maintenance is delayed or done inconsistently, small issues can quickly turn into outages, security incidents, or data loss.

For many businesses, Wordpress maintenance isn’t “hard” because it’s complicated - it’s hard because it’s continuous, unforgiving if ignored, and critical to get right every time.

At Jimmyweb, we understand that managing a Wordpress website can quickly become overwhelming - especially if you’re not familiar with the platform or don’t have the time to stay on top of ongoing technical tasks. That’s why we offer comprehensive Wordpress Maintenance Plans that cover everything from routine updates and security monitoring to reliable backups and performance optimisation.

We take care of the technical details behind the scenes, ensuring your website remains secure, stable, and running smoothly, so you can focus on what matters most: running and growing your business.

Can I just do Wordpress maintenance myself?

Yes - if you have the technical knowledge, time, and discipline to do it properly and consistently.

Effective Wordpress maintenance goes well beyond clicking "Update" every now and then. It requires understanding plugin dependencies, PHP compatibility, security hardening, backup integrity, performance optimisation, and how to safely troubleshoot issues when something breaks. It also means monitoring the site continuously, not just when you remember.

Many businesses start out managing maintenance themselves, but over time it's often deprioritised or handled reactively. Updates get delayed, backups aren’t tested, security risks accumulate, and issues only surface once something breaks or the site goes offline.

A professional Maintenance Plan removes that operational burden. Wordpress updates are managed in a controlled way, issues are identified early, and problems are resolved quickly - often before they impact users or revenue. For most businesses, outsourcing maintenance is less about ability and more about reducing risk and freeing up internal time.

Can I just rely on "auto updates" to maintain my Wordpress site?

Auto updates help, but they’re not a complete maintenance solution.

Wordpress auto updates typically apply core and plugin updates without testing them in your specific environment. They don’t check for compatibility issues between plugins, themes, PHP versions, or custom code. When conflicts occur, auto updates won’t diagnose the problem, roll changes back, or fix a broken site - they simply apply the update and move on.

Auto updates also don’t cover critical maintenance tasks such as security monitoring, malware scanning, backup verification, uptime monitoring, performance optimisation, database maintenance, or error logging. If an update causes a fatal error or white screen, there’s no automated recovery or alerting unless additional systems are in place.

In practice, auto updates are best used as one component of a broader maintenance strategy. A managed Maintenance Plan adds controlled updates, monitoring, rollback capability, and human oversight—ensuring updates improve your site rather than accidentally taking it offline.

How long does Wordpress maintenance take?

Wordpress maintenance is scheduled regularly, usually once or twice a month, depending on your plan.

In most cases, you won’t notice it happening at all. The work is done quietly in the background and doesn’t require any action from you. Routine maintenance typically takes around 30 minutes, and if we spot anything that needs extra attention, we simply take the time needed to make sure it’s handled properly. It's all part of the plan.

Importantly, we never make changes directly to your live website. All updates are first carried out and tested in a safe staging environment, so your live site remains unaffected. Once everything has been carefully checked, the updates are applied to your live site and reviewed again to ensure everything is working smoothly.

The goal is simple: keep your website healthy and secure without disrupting your business or your customers.

Are Jimmyweb’s Wordpress Maintenance Plans available Australia-wide?

Yes. Jimmyweb provides Wordpress maintenance services to businesses across Australia.

While we’re based in Sydney and have been operating for over 20 years, we work with clients nationwide - including those in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and regional areas. Our maintenance plans are designed specifically for Australian businesses and are delivered remotely, allowing us to provide the same high level of service regardless of location.

No matter where you’re based in Australia, our team is here to keep your WordPress website secure, stable, and running smoothly.

How does Jimmyweb protect my website from hackers?

We use layered security measures including 24/7 security monitoring, malware scanning and threat detection, regular Wordpress, plugin, and theme updates. This proactive approach significantly reduces the risk of hacks and allows us to act quickly if suspicious activity is detected.

Will a Maintenance Plan make my website faster?

Yes. Performance is a key part of website health.

Our maintenance includes basic optimisation tasks such as database clean-ups and caching improvements. Faster websites provide a better user experience and tend to perform better in Google search results. We also include a site speed audit, that allows us to review your site and make recommendations unique to your site, to improve your site speed.

What happens if my website goes down?

We monitor your website's uptime 24/7. If your site becomes unavailable, our team is alerted immediately. In many cases, we’re able to resolve the issue before you or your customers even notice - minimising downtime, lost enquiries, and damage to your reputation.

Is a Wordpress Maintenance Plan worth it for a small business?

Yes. For most businesses, a website is a critical asset, not just a brochure. A Maintenance Plan gives you access to Wordpress experts at a fraction of the cost of hiring internal staff, while protecting your website from costly issues that often arise when maintenance is neglected.

Can you fix hacked Wordpress websites?

Yes.

While our main goal is to prevent hacks before they happen, we can also help clean up compromised websites. If your site has been hacked, contact us as soon as possible and we'll assess the situation and work to get your site secure and back online.

What happens if a plugin update breaks my website?

This is exactly what a Maintenance Plan is designed to prevent.

We perform updates carefully and monitor the site afterwards. If an update causes a conflict or layout issue, we roll it back immediately, investigate the cause, and resolve it safely - so you never have to worry about clicking “Update” and breaking your website.

Are content updates included in a Maintenance Plan?

No. Content updates are handled separately and billed on an on-demand basis. This keeps your plan flexible. Some months you may need help updating content, and other months you may not. You only pay for content work when you actually need it.

Why don’t your Maintenance Plans include monthly hours?

Some providers bundle a set number of hours each month, but those hours usually don't roll over - meaning if you don't use them, you lose them.

We prefer a more transparent approach. Rather than bundling hours you may not need, we provide proactive maintenance as a fixed service as part of the annual Maintenance Package, with additional on-demand support available when required. This ensures you’re not paying for unused time.

My website wasn’t built by Jimmyweb. Can I still sign up?

Yes. We work with Wordpress websites built by other agencies all the time. We'll first carry out a free site evaluation to make sure your website is suitable for ongoing maintenance, then recommend the best next steps. From there, we can take care of the site just like one we built ourselves.
