Avfish operates in a highly experience-driven space, offering private fishing charters across Sydney. The business relies heavily on capturing attention quickly… users need to immediately understand the offering, feel confident in the experience, and take the next step toward booking.
AV Fishing Charters also came to Jimmyweb to create another website, Wahoo Charters. This ongoing partnership reflects the confidence they have in Jimmyweb, the design approach, and the results delivered.
The challenge was not to overcomplicate the website, but to strip it back to what matters most. In this category, users are not looking for deep technical information or complex navigation. They want to know: what the experience is, what they’ll get, and how to book.
The existing presence lacked clarity and structure, and while it contained useful content, it didn’t present the experience in a way that felt immediate or compelling. There was also an opportunity to better leverage real imagery to build trust and authenticity. AV Fish needed a website that communicates the experience quickly, feels genuine, and performs well in search — all while guiding users toward enquiry or booking without friction.
What we did
Our approach focused on clarity, speed, and authenticity. Rather than overdesigning the experience, we created a clean and direct interface that allows users to immediately understand what AV Fish offers.
The design is intentionally minimal. We applied constrained design principles, using simple layouts, consistent spacing, and clear typography to create a site that is easy to navigate and quick to scan. This ensures users can find key information without distraction.
A major strength of the site is the use of real, unpolished imagery. Photos of actual trips, catches, and customers were prioritised throughout the design, reinforcing trust and giving users a genuine sense of what to expect. This authenticity is far more powerful than overly curated visuals in this space.
We also structured the content to support both usability and search performance. Key services and experiences are clearly defined, with supporting content that helps improve visibility in search engines while remaining easy to read.
Calls to action are simple and accessible, encouraging users to make contact or enquire without interrupting the flow of the experience.
The tech stack
The website was custom designed and built on WordPress, providing a flexible platform that supports both content management and ongoing SEO growth.
A bespoke build ensures the site remains lightweight and efficient, avoiding unnecessary complexity and allowing for faster load times. This is particularly important for a site that relies on quick engagement and mobile users.

The WordPress CMS allows the AV Fish team to easily update content, add new trips, and continue building their presence over time.

This project was a great reminder that simplicity, when done well, is incredibly powerful. We enjoyed stripping the experience back and focusing on what truly matters… clear messaging, strong imagery, and ease of use. Applying minimal, constrained design principles in a way that still feels engaging and purposeful was a particularly rewarding part of the process.
