Dixons Trees

Project: Wordpress Website

Sector: Property + Construction

Clients with Multiple Sites

Jimmyweb designed and developed the Dixons Trees website to lift one of NSW’s busiest arborist operations into a digital presence that properly reflects the scale, credentials, and breadth of work the business handles every day. Built on WordPress with a confident, image-led design, a clearly segmented service architecture, and trust-led credibility woven throughout, the site repositions Dixons from local tree service to recognised tree management partner for councils, developers, builders, and homeowners alike.

From routine pruning in suburban backyards through to high-risk emergency removals after a storm, Dixons Trees has been handling tree work across NSW since 2009. Operating from a base in the Blue Mountains, the business now runs a multi-crew operation servicing Western Sydney, the Hawkesbury, the Central Coast, and beyond, with more than 10,000 jobs completed and 300-plus five-star reviews to show for it.

Dixons returned to Jimmyweb after this website was launched, to create another website for Dixons Tree Transplanting. This ongoing partnership reflects the confidence they have in Jimmyweb, the design approach, and the results delivered.

Behind that scale sits a quietly serious operation. Qualified arborists, $50 million public liability cover, ISO accreditation across quality, environmental, and OH&S management, and full compliance with Australian Standard AS 4373-2007 all sit at the foundation. The team works regularly alongside councils, government agencies, developers, builders, and commercial property managers, including Cumberland City Council, NPWS, Sydney Water, Transport for NSW, ALDI, and the Department of Education, while also handling thousands of everyday residential jobs across the same regions.

While the business itself had grown significantly over the years, the previous Dixons Trees website hadn’t kept pace. It struggled to communicate the scale of the operation, the breadth of services on offer, the strength of their commercial client list, and the credentials that genuinely separate Dixons from the smaller, less accountable operators that crowd the tree services category.

There was also a structural challenge to solve. Dixons offers far more than tree removal. The full menu spans pruning, stump grinding, tree relocation, chipping and mulching, mulch and firewood sales, land clearing, palm tree removal, crown lifting, and specialised 10/50 bushfire clearing work, none of which were getting proper visibility on the old site. Combined with a wide service footprint across multiple regions and council areas, the new site needed clear pathways for very different visitor intents.

The brief was for a website that would close the gap between the Dixons operation and how it was being represented online: showcasing the credentials, surfacing the full service offering, supporting the strong commercial story, and giving both homeowners and corporate clients a fast, frictionless path to a quote.

What we did

We approached the project as a credibility build first and a tree services site second. Working closely with the Dixons team, we shaped a design direction and content structure that leans into the seriousness of the operation, the depth of experience, and the technical standards behind it, while keeping the experience easy to use for anyone who just needs a tree dealt with.

Visually, the design takes its cue from the work itself. Strong photography of real crews, real trees, and real conditions across the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney runs through the site, paired with a confident green-anchored palette, clean typography, and generous spacing that lets the imagery and content do the heavy lifting. Nothing about it tries too hard, which felt right for a business whose own voice is plain-spoken and direct.

On the architecture side, every service has its own dedicated page with context, scope, and supporting visuals, giving the full breadth of the offering proper visibility for the first time. A service area structure was also built out, with location-specific pages for each of the regions Dixons covers, providing search visibility for the suburbs and council zones where most enquiries originate.

Credibility signals are deliberately layered throughout. Insurance, ISO certifications, AS 4373 compliance, the partner client list, project case studies, and a steady stream of five-star testimonials are all surfaced where they matter most, giving both a private homeowner and a corporate procurement contact the same fast read on what kind of business they’re engaging with.

The tech stack

The site runs on a fully custom WordPress build, giving Dixons the room to manage and grow content across services, projects, locations, careers, and resources without limitations as the business continues to evolve.

Underneath the design is a custom WordPress theme built from the ground up rather than adapted from a template. That decision keeps the codebase tight, the design entirely bespoke, and the long-term flexibility intact.

Performance optimisation

Speed and performance got real attention throughout the build. Modern image formats, careful asset handling, and a thoroughly speed-optimised WordPress foundation deliver fast load times across desktop and mobile, important both for the user experience and for ranking competitively against the high volume of operators targeting the same suburbs.

Style & Substance

There’s a calm confidence running through the whole site. The design doesn’t overplay anything, but every element earns its place, whether that’s the photography, the layout discipline, the colour palette, or the rhythm of the page. It feels grounded and professional in the same way Dixons sounds when you call them.

Visually, the green-anchored palette and steady use of natural, on-site imagery give the brand a clear identity within a category that often defaults to template-style design. The typography is strong without being flashy, the layouts make space for the work, and the overall pacing feels considered and unhurried.

On the functional side, the site is built to handle real-world traffic patterns. Emergency clients land on a clear contact path with prominent phone numbers and a fast quote form. Researching homeowners can dig into service detail, FAQs, and case studies. Council and commercial procurement contacts can browse the partner list, accreditations, and project portfolio for the credibility read they need. Each of those journeys was treated as deliberately as the visual design.

Bringing It All Together

The launched site does justice to what Dixons has actually built over 15-plus years. It carries the credibility, the scale, and the breadth of the operation, while still making it simple for anyone with a tree problem to get to a fast quote.

With a fully bespoke WordPress build at the foundation, the site gives Dixons the structure to keep adding services, regions, projects, and resources over time, supporting both ongoing local lead generation and continued growth on the commercial side of the business.

What we loved

Working on this one was rewarding for a few reasons. The Dixons brand voice is refreshingly direct, the operation behind it is genuinely impressive, and the photography we had to work with was excellent. That combination made it easy to lean into restraint, let the work speak, and build a site that feels confident without overdoing anything.

What they loved

Dixons themselves were most pleased with how accurately the new site reflects the maturity and scale of the operation they’ve spent more than 15 years building.

Particular highlights for the team have been the clarity around the full service offering, the prominence given to their commercial credentials and partner list, and the way the site now performs across the very different audiences they serve, from a homeowner with one tricky gum tree to a council coordinator managing a multi-site clearing program.
