Liberty Balloon Flights
The challenge
Liberty Balloon Flights is an established Australian hot air ballooning company offering premium sunrise flight experiences across some of the country’s most iconic landscapes. While the business itself was well regarded, its digital presence no longer reflected the quality, professionalism, and sense of occasion associated with the experience they provide.
The existing website was visually dated and lacked the refinement expected of a premium tourism brand. Layouts felt crowded, design elements were inconsistent, and the overall presentation did little to convey the sense of calm, space, and luxury that defines a hot air balloon flight.
From a usability and performance perspective, the site was also holding the brand back. Load times were slower than expected, the experience was not optimised for modern devices, and the design did not position Liberty Balloon Flights as a leader within its market.
Liberty Balloon Flights needed a new website that would elevate the brand, modernise its digital presence, and better communicate the quality and professionalism of its offering, while remaining fast, intuitive, and easy to manage internally.
What we did
The project began with a strategic review of the existing website, assessing design, user experience, performance, and overall brand alignment. This allowed us to clearly identify where the site was falling short and how it could be reimagined to better support the business.
From the outset, the focus was on creating a refined, premium digital experience that reflected the feeling of the product itself… calm, spacious, and memorable. We restructured the site to improve clarity, simplify navigation, and guide users effortlessly through the experience, from discovery to enquiry or booking.
Design played a central role in the transformation. We introduced clean layouts with generous use of space, allowing imagery and content to breathe. Subtle floating design elements were incorporated to add movement and depth without distraction, reinforcing a sense of lightness and elevation that aligns naturally with ballooning.
Typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy were carefully considered to ensure the site felt polished, contemporary, and confident. The result is a design that feels premium without being overstated, and immersive without sacrificing usability.
Performance was equally important. The site was engineered to load quickly and run smoothly across all devices, ensuring a seamless experience for users regardless of location or platform.
The tech stack
The website was custom designed and custom built on WordPress, providing Liberty Balloon Flights with a flexible, scalable CMS that supports ongoing updates and future growth.
A fully bespoke theme was developed specifically for the project, ensuring a clean, efficient codebase and avoiding the limitations and bloat of pre-built templates. This approach allowed us to prioritise speed, responsiveness, and design precision throughout the build.
