Bushfire Consulting Service
Jimmyweb designed and developed the Bushfire Consulting Services website to better position the family-owned NSW consultancy as the trusted, on-the-ground expert in bushfire protection for homeowners, builders, architects, developers, and building designers across the state. Through a custom WordPress build, service-led navigation, and a calm, considered design approach, the project delivered a digital presence that improves usability, strengthens credibility, and translates complex regulatory work into a clear, approachable experience for clients across NSW.
Bushfire Consulting Services is a long-established NSW bushfire consultancy led by Catherine Gorrie, providing expert bushfire assessments and compliance reports for homeowners, builders, architects, developers, and building designers. With offices in Western Sydney and the Hunter Valley, the team services a wide footprint that includes Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Central Coast, Central West, and the Hunter Region.

The business offers a full suite of bushfire protection services, including BAL Certificates, Bush Fire Assessment Reports, Preliminary Bushfire Advice and Feasibility Studies, and Statements of Compliance, all assessed against the NSW Rural Fire Service’s Planning for Bush Fire Protection (PBP 2019). What sets the team apart is their commitment to detailed on-site inspections rather than the desktop or aerial-only assessments commonly offered by lower-cost competitors, an approach that produces more accurate, defensible BAL ratings and often results in lower construction costs for the client.
While BFCS had built a strong reputation through years of careful, hands-on work and deep relationships with Council and RFS Development Assessment teams, their existing website was no longer keeping pace with the maturity of the business. The previous site lacked the structure, clarity, and visual confidence needed to fully communicate the value of their service, the breadth of their offering, and the experience of the team behind it.
Bushfire Consulting Services needed a website that would clearly position them as the trusted expert in NSW bushfire protection, communicate the difference between their on-site assessment approach and that of their competitors, and create a calm, professional experience that helps a wide range of users (from first-time homeowners through to seasoned developers) understand what they need and engage with confidence.

What we did
The project began with a careful review of how Bushfire Consulting Services should be presented online. Working closely with Catherine and the team, Jimmyweb focused on translating their hands-on, advice-led approach into a digital experience that feels equally human and authoritative, rather than cold or overly technical.
A clear design priority was establishing trust quickly. We leaned into a clean, restrained visual language with strong typography, considered spacing, and natural imagery that reinforces the bushland context of the work without straying into anything alarming. The aim was for the site to feel calm and credible from the first interaction, particularly for homeowners arriving with limited knowledge of the assessment process.
The site structure was reworked around how clients actually approach BFCS, with each core service given its own clear pathway and supporting content. Pages were written and laid out to demystify a complex regulatory process, with practical FAQs and educational content that helps visitors understand what a BAL assessment involves, why on-site inspections matter, and what to expect at each stage of their project.
We also placed strong emphasis on the team and the BFCS difference. Catherine’s leadership, the family-owned and female-led story, the deep Council and RFS experience, and the wide NSW service area are all surfaced clearly throughout the site, reinforcing both expertise and approachability.
The tech stack
The website was custom designed and built on WordPress, giving Bushfire Consulting Services a flexible, scalable platform they can confidently manage themselves as services and content continue to evolve.
A bespoke WordPress theme was developed from the ground up, providing a clean codebase, strong performance, and complete control over the design and layout. By avoiding off-the-shelf templates, we were able to deliver a tailored solution that accurately reflects the BFCS brand while supporting future growth.
Performance optimisation
Performance, responsiveness, and ease of content management were core considerations throughout the build. The result is a fast, reliable website that performs consistently across desktop and mobile, supporting both a smooth user experience and stronger search visibility within a competitive professional services category.
Style & Substance
The website was designed to strike a careful balance between expertise and approachability. From the first interaction, the site communicates professionalism, deep technical knowledge, and a sense of calm, the very qualities that define how Catherine and her team work in practice.
Visually, the design is clean, considered, and quietly confident. Generous spacing, refined typography, and a controlled palette grounded in natural tones create an environment that feels established and trustworthy without becoming overly corporate. The visual language draws gently on the bushland context of the work, providing relevance and warmth without ever feeling dramatic or fear-led, which would be inappropriate for the subject.
From a functional perspective, the site is structured around clarity. Each service has its own clearly defined pathway, supported by plain-language explanations and well-paced content that helps visitors understand a complex compliance process and identify what they actually need. Calls to action and contact pathways are positioned naturally throughout, making it simple for users to take the next step at the moment they feel ready.

Bringing It All Together
The finished website positions Bushfire Consulting Services as the experienced, hands-on, and approachable expert in NSW bushfire protection. It communicates clearly what the team does, who they help, how they work, and why their on-site approach delivers a better outcome, all within a calm, professional experience that builds confidence from the first interaction.
With a bespoke design and a custom WordPress build, BFCS now has a digital platform that aligns with the calibre of their work, supports broader awareness across their service area, and provides a strong foundation for continued growth across both residential and larger development enquiries.
What we loved
This project gave us the chance to take a highly technical, regulation-driven service and present it in a way that feels human, clear, and reassuring. We loved working with Catherine and the team to translate their on-the-ground, advice-led approach into a digital experience that feels confident without being cold. The combination of restrained design, clear structure, and practical content created a site that genuinely supports both the business and the people relying on it.
What they loved
The team at Bushfire Consulting Services were particularly pleased with how the new website represents the maturity and authority of their business, while still keeping a sense of warmth and approachability.
They valued the clarity of the new structure, the way their on-site assessment difference is now clearly communicated, and the improved experience for both private clients and industry partners. The result is a website they feel confident sharing with homeowners, builders, architects, developers, and councils alike, knowing it reflects the standard of work they deliver.
