Fix A Tap
Jimmyweb designed and developed the FIX-A-TAP website to make a large, content-rich plumbing product range feel clear, practical and easy to navigate. The custom WordPress build brings together products, how-to guides, FAQs and a plumber directory in one fast, structured platform built to support users, strengthen brand trust and improve organic visibility.
FIX-A-TAP is a leading brand specializing in a comprehensive range of tap maintenance products for bathrooms, kitchens, laundries, gardens, and outdoor plumbing needs. Recognized for their commitment to quality and innovation, FIX-A-TAP sought to expand its online presence with a website that would not only reflect their brand identity but also serve as a functional resource for both homeowners and professional plumbers.
We had designed and built their previous website, and were tasked with the challenge of redesigning a modern, accessible, and brand-aligned website on WordPress.
Designing a website for FIX-A-TAP meant stepping into a space where clarity matters more than cleverness. This isn’t a brand selling aspiration… it’s solving real, often urgent problems for homeowners and trades alike. The challenge was to create a digital experience that could carry a large and complex product catalogue, without becoming overwhelming or purely transactional.
Unlike typical eCommerce builds, the site wasn’t focused on online sales. Instead, it needed to educate, guide, and support – acting as a trusted reference point for people trying to fix a leaking tap, identify the right part, or locate a qualified plumber nearby. That meant striking a careful balance between product visibility, instructional content, and service discovery.
There was also the added layer of audience diversity. DIY users, first-time homeowners, and experienced plumbers all approach the site with different expectations. The structure had to accommodate each of these mindsets without fragmenting the experience.
What we did
We approached the design with a clear principle: make the complex feel navigable. The foundation of the site is a strong, highly structured navigation system, supported by large category groupings and clear pathways into products, guides, and services. Every interaction is designed to reduce friction and help users find what they need quickly.
Visually, the design leans into the language of retail hardware… bold, practical, and confident… but refined through a more contemporary lens. Strong iconography, generous spacing, and deliberate typography choices give the interface clarity without stripping away personality. The result feels familiar, but not dated.
We also placed significant emphasis on content integration. The “How To” guides and FAQs aren’t treated as secondary features – they’re embedded into the user journey, reinforcing the brand’s authority and making the site genuinely useful beyond product browsing. Similarly, the plumber directory was designed as a key destination, not an afterthought, with a focus on accessibility and trust.
The overall experience is purposeful and grounded. It doesn’t try to impress through trend-driven design – instead, it builds confidence through usability, structure, and consistency.
The tech stack
The website was delivered as a bespoke custom build on WordPress, giving the flexibility to support a large and evolving product catalogue alongside rich editorial content. The custom architecture ensures that product categories, guides, FAQs, and directory listings can all coexist seamlessly within a single, cohesive system.
With such a content-heavy site, careful speed optimisation was essential to maintain fast load times and a smooth browsing experience across devices. From image handling to code efficiency, every layer was tuned for speed and reliability.
SEO also played a critical role in the build. The site structure, content hierarchy, and internal linking strategy were all designed to support strong organic visibility – particularly for long-tail search queries around plumbing fixes, product identification, and local plumber searches.
Bringing It All Together
The finished website feels like a natural extension of the FIX-A-TAP brand… practical, dependable, and easy to engage with. It successfully brings together multiple functions into a single platform: product education, problem-solving, and service connection.
What could have easily become a dense, catalogue-driven experience instead feels considered and approachable. Users are guided, not overwhelmed. Whether they’re searching for a replacement washer or trying to diagnose an issue, the site supports them with clarity and confidence.
What we loved
We loved how the design embraces the essence of a hardware brand without feeling stuck in it. The bold colour palette, practical layout, and strong visual hierarchy give the site a sense of familiarity, but the execution feels clean, modern, and intentional. It’s a great example of restraint… knowing when to let structure and usability lead, rather than over-designing for the sake of it.
What Fix A Tap loved
They loved how confidently the brand came through in the final result. The yellow and green palette feels unmistakably theirs, and its consistent application across the site reinforces recognition both online and in-store. More importantly, the site feels aligned with how their customers actually think and behave… clear, direct, and easy to navigate. It supports the brand not just visually, but functionally, which is where it matters most.
