Scott Free Australia
Jimmyweb designed and developed the website for Scott Free Australia, a leading supplier to the window furnishings industry providing fabrics, blind systems, curtain tracks, pergola solutions, and motorisation products to trade professionals across Australia and New Zealand. Designed and developed as a custom WordPress build, the site brings structure to a broad, multi-category product offering, using strong hierarchy, generous spacing, and purposeful imagery to make complex information easy to absorb for a time-poor, task-driven trade audience.
Scott Free Australia is a leading supplier to the window furnishings industry, providing an extensive range of fabrics, blind systems, curtain tracks, pergola solutions and motorisation products to trade professionals across Australia and New Zealand. Known for their reliability, product depth and industry knowledge, the business has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner to manufacturers, installers and wholesalers. Their point of difference lies in the breadth of their offering and their ability to support customers with complete systems rather than isolated components.
Scott Free came to us with a common but complex problem. Their business had grown significantly over time, but their existing website no longer reflected the scale or capability of what they offered. With such a wide product range spanning multiple categories, the site struggled to communicate the full picture in a clear and structured way.
One of the biggest challenges was organisation. Fabrics, systems, motorisation and outdoor solutions all sat within the same ecosystem, but there was no intuitive way for users to navigate between them. For new visitors, it was difficult to quickly understand what Scott Free actually did. For existing customers, finding specific products or categories wasn’t as efficient as it should have been.
There was also a positioning gap. The business operates at a high level within the industry, yet the digital experience didn’t fully support that perception. The brief was not just to improve the look and feel, but to elevate the brand and present Scott Free as a modern, capable and forward-thinking supplier.
At the same time, the site needed to remain practical. Their audience is trade-focused, often time-poor and task-driven. The solution had to balance clarity, usability and professionalism without introducing unnecessary complexity.
What we did
We approached the project with structure first. Before any visual design, we worked through how the product offering should be organised so it aligned with how users think and search. This meant grouping related systems and categories in a way that felt logical, while still allowing the breadth of the offering to come through.
From a design perspective, we focused on clarity and restraint. The interface uses strong visual hierarchy, generous spacing and clean typography to make complex information easier to absorb. Large, purposeful imagery helps communicate product quality and real-world application, giving the site a more tangible and credible feel.
Navigation was a key priority. We designed clear entry points into each product category and ensured users could move between sections without losing context. The result is a browsing experience that feels predictable and easy to use, even with a large volume of content behind it.
We also refined the way the business is positioned throughout the site. Rather than presenting Scott Free as a simple product supplier, the language and structure reinforce their role as a solutions provider. This subtle shift helps elevate the brand and better reflects the value they bring to their customers.
The tech stack
The website was custom designed and built on WordPress, giving Scott Free a flexible and scalable platform to manage their content and expand their product range over time. Every element of the site was tailored to suit their specific requirements, rather than relying on templates or off-the-shelf components.
Alongside the build, we provide website hosting as well as ongoing maintenance and support. This ensures the site remains secure, stable and up to date, while also giving the client access to ongoing improvements as their business evolves.
Performance optimisation
Speed and performance were a core focus throughout the build. The site has been optimised to load quickly across devices, ensuring a smooth experience for users whether they are in the office or on-site. Strong performance not only improves usability, but also supports the on-page technical SEO, helping the site rank more effectively and attract the right audience.
Bringing It All Together
The end result is a website that brings clarity to a complex offering. Users can quickly understand what Scott Free does, explore product categories with ease and find what they need without friction. The structure supports both new visitors and existing customers, making the site a practical tool for day-to-day use.
Just as importantly, the design now reflects the quality and scale of the business. It feels modern, capable and considered, without being overdesigned. Every element has a purpose, and the overall experience reinforces trust and professionalism.
What we loved
We loved how the project embraced simplicity in the face of complexity. Instead of overcomplicating the solution, the design focuses on structure, hierarchy and usability. The restraint in the visual approach gives the site a confident, long-lasting feel, while the underlying UX makes a genuinely complex product range easy to navigate.
What they loved
Scott Free loved that the site finally represents who they are as a business.
“It finally feels like us. The site is clean, easy to use and shows the full scope of what we offer. Customers can actually find what they need, and we feel confident sending people to it. It looks professional without being over the top, and it just works.”
The structure makes their full offering clear, the navigation is easy to use and the overall presentation feels professional and modern. They now have a website they are confident to send customers to, knowing it supports both their brand and their day-to-day operations.
