Shire Skylights & The Skylight Warehouse is a Sydney-based specialist in skylights, roof windows, and ventilation solutions for residential homes. With a strong focus on improving natural light, airflow, and overall liveability, the business has built a reputation for helping homeowners transform darker spaces into bright, open environments. Their offering combines practical installation expertise with a clear understanding of how light can enhance everyday living.
After this project was complete, Shire Skylights returned to Jimmyweb to create additional websites, including Skylight Installations and Quote My Skylight. This ongoing partnership reflects the confidence they have in Jimmyweb, the design approach, and the results delivered.
While skylights are technically a construction product, the real value lies in how they transform a home. The website needed to move away from a purely trade-focused presentation and instead communicate the lifestyle benefits in a way that resonates with everyday homeowners.
At the same time, the site needed to remain informative and practical. Users are often unfamiliar with skylight products, so the experience had to balance inspiration with clarity, helping visitors understand what is possible while also guiding them through product options and installation considerations.
Another important factor was accessibility. The audience is broad, and the site needed to feel easy to navigate and approachable, avoiding overly technical language or complex structures that could create friction.
What We Did
We approached the design with a strong focus on light, space, and clarity. The visual direction leans into bright, open layouts with generous spacing and clean structure, reinforcing the core benefit of the product from the moment users land on the site.
Imagery plays a central role in the experience. Rather than focusing solely on the product itself, the design highlights interior spaces and the impact of natural light within the home. This helps users quickly understand the transformation skylights can deliver, making the offering more tangible and engaging.
From a UX perspective, we prioritised simplicity and flow. Navigation was designed to be intuitive, allowing users to explore products, services, and information without feeling overwhelmed. Content is introduced progressively, supporting both browsing and decision-making.
The result is a site that feels approachable and informative, while still maintaining a polished and professional presentation that reflects the quality of the business.
