Admiralty Apartments – Lord Howe

Project: Wordpress Website

Sector: Travel

Jimmyweb designed and developed the Admiralty Apartments website to reflect the quiet, premium character of its adults-focused Lord Howe Island accommodation. The custom WordPress build uses restrained design, immersive photography and fast performance to create a calm, confident user experience that supports discovery, trust and direct enquiries.

Admiralty Apartments needed a website that reflected a very specific kind of luxury. Not polished resort luxury, not overdesigned lifestyle branding, but something quieter. More personal. More in tune with Lord Howe Island itself.

The challenge was to position the property as premium, private, and adults-focused without slipping into clichés. The location does much of the heavy lifting. The proximity to Ned’s Beach, the sense of seclusion, the surrounding greenery. The website needed to capture that feeling without overstating it or dressing it up in generic “luxury” language.

There was also a balance to strike in tone. Too corporate and it would feel disconnected from the island. Too casual and it would lose the sense of quality and attention to detail that defines the experience. The design needed to feel considered, calm, and confident. Something that lets the property speak for itself.

What we did

We approached the design with restraint. Rather than trying to impose a strong visual theme, we focused on clarity, space, and hierarchy. The structure is simple and easy to navigate, allowing visitors to move through the site without friction.

Photography became the centrepiece. Large, well-paced imagery communicates the experience far more effectively than heavy copy ever could. The greenery, the light, the sense of quiet privacy. These are the things guests are really buying into, and the design gives them room to breathe.

Typography and layout were kept clean and modern, but intentionally understated. The goal was not to impress with design tricks, but to create an atmosphere that feels calm and authentic. The content flows naturally, with clear sections that guide the user from discovery through to enquiry.

The end result is a site that feels aligned with the property. Premium without being showy. Thoughtful without being overworked. It reflects the experience rather than trying to redefine it.

The tech stack

The website was designed and built as a fully bespoke solution on WordPress. This allowed complete flexibility in both design and content structure, ensuring the site could be tailored specifically to the needs of the property rather than constrained by a template.

We implemented a custom build that prioritises performance and ease of use. Page layouts are flexible and intuitive for content updates, giving the client control without complexity. This is especially important for accommodation providers who need to keep information current and accurate.

Speed optimisation was a key part of the build. Image handling, caching, and overall site performance were carefully managed to ensure fast load times, even with large, high-quality photography. The result is a smooth, responsive experience across both desktop and mobile.

Bringing It All Together

The finished website brings together design, content, and performance in a way that feels cohesive and considered. Every element works toward the same goal. To communicate a sense of place, privacy, and quality.

It does not try to compete with louder, more aggressive accommodation websites. Instead, it creates a quieter kind of confidence. Visitors are given space to explore, absorb the imagery, and form a clear impression of what staying at Admiralty Apartments feels like.

This approach builds trust. It speaks directly to the type of guest the property is designed for. Someone looking for something refined, relaxed, and a little removed from the usual.

What we loved

We loved the clarity of the design direction. There was a shared understanding that simplicity would be more powerful than overdesign. That made it possible to focus on the fundamentals and execute them well. The photography in particular carries the experience beautifully. It communicates privacy, greenery, and calm almost immediately. The design supports that without getting in the way, which is exactly what it should do.

What Admiralty Apartments loved

They loved how well the site reflects the property. The design feels on brand and true to the experience they offer. Nothing feels forced or out of place. Most importantly, the website presents the apartments in a way that feels natural and appealing. It showcases the space, the location, and the overall atmosphere in a way that resonates with their audience and supports their positioning as a premium, adults-focused stay.
